| Notes | BC-2 projectile. An Ordnance Department memo discussing a 12 March 1944 shipment of 490 Cal. .60 rounds with a large-diameter sabot for testing in a deep-rifled barrel at Aberdeen Proving Ground references this projectile. It indicated that, due to the danger of firing such projectiles in shallow-rifled barrels, they would be specially identified by a blackened body and yellow over white tip. It is unknown why this projectile appears in a 1945-dated case, however. |
